President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated that local refineries are gearing up to initiate petroleum product production.
After previously announcing the recommencement of operations at the Port Harcourt refinery by December 2023, he hinted at a potential decrease in fuel prices during the 11th Convocation ceremony at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike.
Represented by Professor Garba Sharubutu, the president acknowledged economic challenges but urged patience and ongoing support for efforts to address them.
A portion of the approved supplementary budget aims to address challenges in the agricultural sector, with emphasis on universities contributing to food security and sustainable development goals.
The president pledges continued support for specialised universities and encourages private organisations to collaborate for mutual benefits in agricultural research.
He extends well-wishes to graduates and promises ongoing government support for tertiary institution infrastructure.
