Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has announced a remarkable 92 percent surge in revenue generation within his ministry, reaching N242 billion in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
Mr. Oyetola made this announcement recently during a sectoral briefing in Abuja, marking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anniversary.
He attributed this significant increase to the implementation of 18 strategic programs aimed at enhancing revenue across various agencies under the ministry.
These agencies include the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), and the Shippers Council, among others.
“By implementing these 18 strategic programs, we focused on closing revenue leakages, boosting revenue generation, and identifying new revenue sources. As a result, we have significantly increased government revenue across these agencies compared to the first quarter of 2023,” Mr. Oyetola explained.
He further highlighted that the revenue performance across the ministry’s agencies rose from N126 billion to N242 billion, underscoring the administration’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s blue economy.
