The Managing Director(MD) and Chief Executive(CE) of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Mr. Bello Hassan, has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the International Association of Deposit Insurers, African Regional Committee (IADI-ARC).
This significant development was announced in a release by Mr. Bashir Alhassan Nuhu, NDIC’s Director of Communication and Public Affairs. The appointment was officially made during the recent IADI-ARC Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Dakar, Senegal.
IADI, established in May 2002, serves as the global standard-setting body for deposit insurance systems, fostering knowledge exchange and experience sharing through international conferences, workshops, capacity-building programs, research, and guidance related to deposit insurance.
The Association plays a vital role in developing core principles, standards, and guidelines to enhance the effectiveness of deposit insurance systems worldwide.
Mr. Hassan’s journey to this esteemed position began when he was elected into the IADI Executive Council (Exco) during the organisation’s AGM in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the previous year.
The IADI Exco functions as the governing body responsible for overseeing the Association’s operations.
The leadership of IADI-ARC recognised Mr. Hassan’s exceptional contributions, unwavering commitment, and leadership in advancing deposit insurance practices not only in Africa but also on a global scale.
This appointment serves as a testament to his outstanding efforts in strengthening deposit insurance across the continent and beyond.
