The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has presented its budget of N706.43 billion for the 2024 fiscal year to the Senate Committee on customs.
Comptroller-General(CG) of NCS, Mr. Bashir Adeniyi, highlighted plans to exceed the revenue target of N5.079 trillion, emphasising the implementation of the National Single Window to modernise processes and enhance revenue collection.
Strategies include standardising customs procedures, port decongestion, anti-smuggling operations, and investing in technology and capacity building.
The service also aims to support local production and food security while focusing on officer welfare and recruitment.
Despite a shortfall in the 2023 revenue target, optimism remains high for 2024, with the Senate Committee pledging support for the CG’s initiatives.
