The Executive secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, has disclosed that the directorate is taking steps to harmonise pensions for federal retirees, particularly those under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).
She made the disclosure during a meeting with the Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria, recently at her office in Abuja.
Dr. Ejikeme also expressed the directorate’s commitment to boost the welfare of pensioners under the DBS and pledged to explore pension increment possibilities.
She said that she is working on reviving a memo for pension harmonisation sent during the President Buhari’s administration, promising updates on the outcome.
She assured pensioners of a pension increment next year and urged hope for potential adjustments linked to the general minimum wage.
The PTAD boss assured the Association of Retired Police Officer that their demands would be presented to the Honourable Minister of Finance, and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.
As she also informed them that PTAD has given its payroll to the Ministry of Humanitarian Services and Poverty Alleviation for payment of palliatives to retirees under the fuel subsidy removal scheme of the federal government.
